my gardener

we bought basil at the farmer's market last saturday.
my husband lovingly repotted it
then lined it up next to our other plants
he is so proud.

sunday picnic

last sunday, we went on a picnic at the duck pond
we saw these boys try to catch ducks
{see him diving after the duck?}
and dined on pesto pasta salad, fried chicken*,
and a special childhood strawberry dessert**
delicious!

*we coat chicken cutlets in panko bread crumbs and pan fried them
**we substituted plain yogurt for sour cream.

ducks

i saw this little girl trying to catch ducks with a net the other day.
like running after it, yelling, waving her net.
it was hilarious
and made me want to be her.
i wanted to take a picture, but i figured the mother [of the child] wouldn't like it.

so i just used some random image i found on google.

questionable smoothies

one of mister c's friend's mom [enough possessives for you?] raises avocados.
so he brought us a big bag of them for a wedding present.
don't worry, he got us a toaster too.
but you see...we are not very familiar with using avocados.
we ate them on our burgers last night
and drank them tonight.
yes. drank them.
another friend of mister c's had made him an avocado smoothie once.
our fruit stand man in taiwan used to make them too.
but i would never try them.
tonight i did [only because husband made one]
and i was not impressed.
but maybe this will hit to spot for avocado lovers out there?

1 avocado
about 3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2-3 tablespoons sugar

blend well! and enjoy! or choke down and smile.

guilty pleasures

looking at old pictures of mister c

using our new food processor, new pans, and new cooking utensils

making the first oreo ice cream cake of the summer--with chocolate and cookies & cream ice cream layers!

laying on the mattress* with the front door wide open

watching the husband at the kitchen table research housing in AZ [he thinks i am doing my homework!]

listening to whatever movie our neighbors are watching. they keep the door wide open too. and have their TV cranked up.

drinking a strawberrypineapplegrapepeach smoothie

*we returned to provo on sunday night to 90 degree weather. after powering up our air conditioning, aka the box, we realized that the box does not cool the bedrooms. so we dragged one of the twin mattresses out of our bedroom [we were sleeping on two twins squished together] and put it right in front of the box. then we slept like babies. and the mattress is still laying in the living room...until we figure out how to cool off the bedroom!

city of angels, here we come!

my inlaws generously offered to host a reception down in los angeles, so that is where we are headed this weekend! i am looking forward to doing it all again [i mean, what girl doesn't want two weddings? and with the same man!!]

but i am secretly looking forward to doing a lot of poolside lounging ...and maybe beach lounging... with the husband and new family.

both images from a google search. lame crediting, i know.

now, where can i get my hands on a swimsuit like that?

so pretty much the minute jeff proposed, i become obsessed with wedding blogs. i frequented stylemepretty and 100layercake daily. i dabbled in greenweddingshoes, snippetandink, and martha stewart's bride's blog. i just loved everything about each wedding that was featured and longed for my own dream wedding.

i couldn't find any perfect pictures for here.

now that i am married and can happily say that i did have the wedding of my dreams, i have little pull towards those blogs. i looked at stylemepretty yesterday and totally appreciated all the beauty there is, but didn't feel those thrills that i used to. i am sure i will continue to look at my wedding blog friends a little, but my heart doesn't need to pour over them anymore. plus--it might make me just want another wedding [to jeff, of course] and i just don't want to be left thinking that my wedding could have been better.

or here.

let's face it--to me, it couldn't have been better.

or here.

anyways the point of this ramble is just to say that my heart has fallen in love [again] with those blogs i used to follow before wedding fever got me. i visited definingamy for the first time in a week or two and then followed one of her links to sending-postcards and my rush.urge.excitement.whatever you call it to travel just rushed into me again...not unlike my rush.urge.excitement.whatever you call it to plan a wedding just dimished. so here i am, reading Eat, Pray, Love and looking at travel blogs and hoping that our move to arizona in august will give me enough travelling to tie me over until we are fabulously rich [in 50033749390 years after medical school and repaying debts]. do you think there will be lions in arizona?

i am making mister C sit down tonight to write a wanderlist with me.

p.s. i promise these posts won't always be this wordy.
